Saturday 27th June - walks **** – Felixstowe Ferry and Levington –
sunny and very hot!
Woke to cloud and some rain during the night so I drove down once again to
Felixstowe Ferry for a quick walk around the boatyard to take a few weather
pics. After sorting my pics we packed breakfast and flask and set off to
Levington Marina to watch the old wooden boats in the Classic Regatta,
parking by the marina entrance at nine in hot sunshine and light winds just
in time to see the first boats head out onto the Orwell to set up their
sails. We got the chairs out again and sat watching the many many old boats
getting ready for the first race of the day, it was great to see so many
old boats out on the water! Some of the boats did not have engines so had
to be pushed out by small ribs, then half a dozen old power boats headed
out and it was great to see then going fast in the water ski area! The
first race started and the boats headed down towards the docks before
returning back up the river to turn again at Pin Mill, once again it was
brilliant to see! Mag and I then decided to walk up river to Levington
Creek along the bumpy path spotting one very hot deer in the distance!
Another top day at Levington, more racing for the old boats tomorrow with
much more wind forecast!
